As dawn breaks, Yared Alemu emerges from his modest home, greeted by the chorus of birdsong and the first light of day. With a worn machete in hand, he sets off to tend to his coffee trees, which thrive in the fertile soil of the region, known for its volcanic origin and ideal altitude.

Yared carefully navigates through the dense foliage, his keen eyes scanning the branches for the ripest cherries. With practiced hands, he plucks the crimson gems, the culmination of months of tender care and nurturing.

Meanwhile, his wife, Ayana, tends to the soil, meticulously weeding and fertilizing to ensure the health and vigor of their precious coffee plants. In Guji Hambela, the soil’s composition, a blend of loamy texture and mineral-rich volcanic ash, lends a distinct flavor profile to the beans, coveted by coffee connoisseurs around the world.

As the sun reaches its zenith, the Alemu family gathers the day’s harvest and begins the arduous process of pulping and fermenting the cherries. They work with precision and care, knowing that each step is crucial to preserving the beans’ natural flavors.

Once the coffee beans have been processed and dried, they are carefully bagged and loaded onto trucks bound for the bustling city of Addis Ababa. From there, they begin their journey to the port of Djibouti, where they will be shipped to destinations around the globe.

Among these destinations is Kahraman Dubai, a renowned coffee hub where traders and roasters eagerly await the arrival of Ethiopia’s finest beans. Here, the Alemu family’s coffee will be sampled, roasted, and savored by coffee enthusiasts from all walks of life, each cup a testament to the dedication and passion of the farmers who cultivated it.
